There’s one week down, and eight more to go in the spring season at Red Rock Bible Camp. Even though it’s only been five days, quite a lot has been going on here at camp.

We’ve hit a pretty significant transition period as literally everyone here is settling in to new positions this month (we’ll touch on that next week). But as busy as that has made things, we’ve still found a lot of time to enjoy each other’s company and embrace the outdoors.

On Monday night, before we welcomed Archwood School as our first group of the spring, we all got together to hang out by the lake as a group. Despite abnormally warm temperatures this spring, the water is still quite cold. But that didn’t stop some of our staff in hopping into our kayaks and enjoy what our beautiful lake has to offer.

For those of us who weren’t as brave, we simply enjoyed the view.

Some of the guys at camp have also been using the pleasant weather to play basketball to get rid of some of our exam bellies. Erik may have got a little more than he bargained for after taking an elbow in the mouth in one of our games. Of course that doesn’t stop him from staying photogenic.

The sense of community we’ve felt in only one week has been great to see, and a lot of that is due to our common purpose in following God’s plan for us. This was highlighted through our first church night as a new staff on Thursday. This spring we’re going through a DVD series called BASIC by Francis Chan, and the first disc focused on the idea of fearing God. Through listening to Chan and sharing about our lives I think all of us left the room challenged.

It’s been a great week, but we’re still going to need your prayers. Continue to pray for safety and for continued devotion in shining God’s light throughout our beautiful camp. And also pray for continued spiritual growth for our new group of spring staff, and also the wonderful full-time staff at RRBC.
