Two weeks ago RRBC said goodbye to our Food Services Manager, Eric Coursey, along with his wife Krystal, sons Aidan and Tyrus, and daughter Quianna, as they moved on from Red Rock to follow God’s will elsewhere. The following is a message from Eric about what he’s doing, why he’s doing it, and what God has in store for him and his family.
My family has very deep ties to Red Rock, and the ministry that goes on there will always be on our hearts. I hope that we were able to make a difference in the lives of the staff and some of the campers during the time that we served there. I know that there have been many staff, and from further back campers who have impacted and challenged me in my faith.
It doesn’t get much more beautiful then living in the Whiteshell. The majestic Canadian Shield with beautiful lakes surrounded by forest was not only a wonderful place to grow up, but also to raise our children. I loved being out on the lake fishing and water skiing and Aidan and Quianna would be on the beach from 7AM til 7PM if they could. I loved spending time with the staff playing games, shooting hoops and playing beach. Red Rock was home for many years and we were very comfortable there but now we have moved quite literally to greener pastures.
The transition from Red Rock to Winkler Bible Camp was very sudden. God just reminds us that our home is in heaven and that we need to be willing and ready to pick up and move when he calls us to. God closes doors and opens others with new and wonderful opportunities and we need to be willing to step through and see what He has in store for us.
We have spent the last week getting to know lots of new people and just learning the WBC routines and culture. The staff here are fantastic and very welcoming which has made this transition very easy on our family. This week I have gotten into the office and have begun to wrap my head around the position of cross current director. Cross Current is a well established, very exciting discipleship program. The students come from all over the world to strengthen their faith. They receive sound biblical teaching from different pastors and professors, they serve by working at WBC and they get to serve as they travel. Last year they worked with kingdom Builders in Philadelphia, Metro Ministries in New York and I believe they also worked with Jesus People in Chicago.
The great commission is to go and make disciples and when we studied that passage it was more directly translated into as you are going make disciples. The great commission is really a lifestyle that I will be trying to instill in the the Cross Current students this year. It really doesn’t matter where you are as long as you are obeying God’s Word and ministering to those around you. I am very excited to see what the Lord will do in our lives and in the lives of the students here this next year.
