Unfortunately, it rained today. Fortunately, skills weren’t stopped by that. They made do, either in the rain or out of the rain. Some played board games, others played musical chairs and electric garbage can with the lights and DJ mixer leftover from the concert last night. That turned out to be a pretty sweet skill.

Still others came up with cool ideas for playing outside in the rain. Some skills went to Echo Valley and had a mud fight, and another group went to the ball field to create their own slip and slide!

In chapel today Kent spoke on character and calling. A point that stood out was that God wants us to grow spiritually and become like Jesus, and if we have Jesus’ character, we are going to be different. Some of us don’t want to stick out, we would rather fit in. But that is not what God has planned for us. God wants us to use our time, talent and treasure to build his Kingdom. Kent’s prayer for the campers is that God would give them wisdom to know what the right thing to do is and the courage to do it. One of the verses that Kent included was 2 Peter 1:3-9.

2 Peter 1:3-9

3 By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life. We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence. 4 And because of his glory and excellence, he has given us great and precious promises. These are the promises that enable you to share his divine nature and escape the world’s corruption caused by human desires.

5 In view of all this, make every effort to respond to God’s promises. Supplement your faith with a generous provision of moral excellence, and moral excellence with knowledge, 6 and knowledge with self-control, and self-control with patient endurance, and patient endurance with godliness, 7 and godliness with brotherly affection, and brotherly affection with love for everyone.

8 The more you grow like this, the more productive and useful you will be in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But those who fail to develop in this way are shortsighted or blind, forgetting that they have been cleansed from their old sins.
