Another great week has come and gone for the spring staff at Red Rock Bible Camp, which means another blog post to let you all know what we’ve been up to. It’s looking like these weekly recaps are going to be something we will continue, so if you like them – or hate them – feel free to let us know in the comments section, or let us know by commenting on the links on our Facebook page.
This week we hosted two awesome school groups in Oak Bank Elementary school who was here for just Tuesday, and Edward Schreyer School who stayed with us from Wednesday to Friday.
Oak Bank was a group of young ones who had tons of energy and really seemed to enjoy what we had to offer here.
Edward Schreyer was an older group of grade 8 students who took full advantage of their Tuck Shop time block on the schedule (these shelves were full before they got here).
As a spring staff we’ve been hard at work keeping things in tip-top shape for the groups, and making sure they’re having a good time. Throughout the process there has been a couple of developments here at camp.
First of all, as much as we’re trying to deny it, the bugs are coming back. Daniel found that out very quickly while working on one of the guys cabins. Thankfully the smell of pure Raid left before the group moved in.
But on the other hand, the sun has come out as well. And for the first time this spring we had a scorcher on our hands on Thursday. Just ask Erik, who was fortunate enough to have the job of mowing and weed whipping the camp. We might have to add some Aloe Vera oil to the Donate Stuff list.
The beautiful weather has also provided our staff with some beautiful evenings on the lake, and Adam even decided to hop on in and test the waters.
There’s something about a calm lake before the sunset that really captures the joyful feeling of spending time with friends. Adam still looks stiff from the cold water perhaps.
And lastly on a more personal note, it seems as if spring staffer Mike Froese has developed a new hobby after mastering the art of teaching archery for our outdoor education groups.
I’m not quite sure that’s proper form…but that’s a determined stance if I’ve ever seen one.
Mike enjoys archery so much that he has trouble keeping it in the archery range. “Hey Joey, do you think I can hit turtle island from here?”
He’s actually gotten so good that shooting regularly has become too easy.

In all seriousness though, it’s been a great week. We’ve continued to bond as a spring staff, and it’s been awesome to see how God has been working in our lives through our relationships with each other.
It would be great if you could pray for the unity of our staff, and that God continues to work through that. Also pray for our summer prep and that the events we’re planning go smoothly, the camps fill up with campers, and that we can recruit enough staff to work for the summer.
